Mechanica
Mechanica (“the app”, “we”) is a mobile application for vehicle owners and workshops. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. This website is a marketing site only; the app itself is available on iOS and Android.
Who this applies to
This policy covers people who download Mechanica, create an owner or workshop account, or contact us for support. It also covers visitors to this marketing website (which does not provide in-app sign-in).
Information we collect
- Account. Name and mobile number. We send a one-time code (OTP) to verify the number. We do not use a password. You may also save an email address and a currency preference. A login session is stored on your device so you stay signed in.
- Profile. For workshop accounts: workshop name, size, address, city, working hours, and a map pin. That pin is how owners find the workshop. The phone may turn the pin into a street address.
- Vehicle and service data. Vehicles you add (type, registration, specs, and the owner name and mobile on that vehicle). We may send an OTP to that mobile to verify the vehicle. Workshop jobs, service records you log yourself, amounts and expenses taken from those records, reminders, and ownership transfers you start or accept, including the other person’s mobile number.
- Location. Approximate or precise location, when you allow it. Owners use it to see nearby workshops. You can refuse location and still use the rest of the app. Workshop accounts use it to place the garage pin.
- Device and diagnostics. App version, device type, and a device identifier (Android ID, or the iOS identifier for this app vendor) sent with requests so the session stays tied to this install. In release builds we send crash reports and a sample of performance data to Sentry. One-time codes and session tokens are removed before those reports leave the device. We do not use this for advertising.
- Support. Email or other messages you send us.
How we use information
We use this information to create and secure your account, provide owner and workshop features, send OTPs, verify vehicles, show nearby garages, keep service history with the vehicle, and improve reliability. We do not sell your personal information. We do not show third-party advertising in the app.
Sharing
We share data with service providers who host the API, send messages (such as OTP delivery), and, through Sentry, capture crash and performance reports, only as needed to run Mechanica. A workshop that services your vehicle can see that vehicle, your name, and your mobile number, and the jobs it records. A public workshop profile (name, address, city, hours, map pin, and the workshop owner’s name and phone) is visible to owners in the app, and the phone number can be used to call. An ownership transfer shows the other party’s mobile number so the transfer can be completed. If you open a workshop in your maps app, that app receives the location you chose to open. We may disclose information if required by law.
Retention
We keep account, vehicle, and job records while your account is active so service history stays with the vehicle. Logging out ends the session on that device. It does not delete the account. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data by emailing support. Some records may be retained where we must meet a legal obligation.
Your choices
- Update your name, email, currency, workshop profile, and vehicle details in the app.
- Turn off location permission in system settings. Nearby workshops will not load until you allow it again.
- Log out of this device from your profile.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data at the email below.
Children
Mechanica is intended for adults who own vehicles or run workshops. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
This website
This marketing site is static HTML. It does not include sign-up, login, or cookies for advertising. If we later add analytics, we will update this policy.
